It happens quite often that a physician or health specialist faces force majeure conditions in which s/he does not know what to do; for instance, when s/he has two or more patients exposed to risk and s/he does not have the ability to treat both considering the facilities s/he has and the particular conditions s/he is faced with, or when a patient is exposed to two risks and the physician needs to deal with and avoid both risks. The question is “how can s/he handle both? At the same time, there is benefit in both force majeure conditions and both need expediency, but we are not aware of it. However, there must be a criterion for determining the priority for treatment of one patient over the other or a treatment priority for avoiding the serious risk over the non-serious one. We will discuss this issue in several phases to find an operational solution for determining the criterion for treatment priority.

Background and Objective: In recent decades, marital satisfaction and adjustment as the main issues in family life, have been widely focused on by researchers. The current study aimed to investigate the mediating role of spiritual tendencies in the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation and marital adjustment.

Methods: This study is correlational and applied. The statistical population included the couples aged 20-60 who had been living together for at least two years and were still living together at the time of study. Out of them, 400 participants (200 male and 200 female) were selected using convenience sampling method. SC, CERQ and DAS were used as the research instruments. Structural equation modelling was used to analyze the data. In this study, all ethical considerations were observed and no conflict of interest was reported by the authors.

Results: The results showed that the model has a statistically acceptable fit index. The positive relationship between the variables shows that spiritual tendencies along side with cognitive emotion regulation predict marital adjustment. The mediating role of spiritual tendencies is explained by the significant relationship and correlation between positive emotion cognitive regulation with marital adjustment. Based on the model fit indices, the significance of all the paths related to the variable of marital adjustment is proved.

Conclusion: According to theory, cognitive emotional regulation focuses on couples’ emotions and creates an opportunity for cognitive processing (including cognitive processing in the face of anger and rage). This, in turn, improves couples’ relationships. Spiritual tendencies are a significant predictor of marital adjustment and marital satisfaction and enhance the quality of marital relationship.

Content Analysis Article

Background and Objective: Some theorists consider the teachings of religions to be the main cause of environmental crises. For example, Keith Thomas refers to some verses of the Holy Qur'an and considers them to be the cause of various environmental damages. The main purpose of this research is to critically examine the views of Keith Thomas. In this critical study, an attempt has been made to use the doctrinal-theological propositions of the Holy Qur'an with a qualitative approach.

Methods: This qualitative study was conducted with a content analysis approach to critique the perspectives of Keith Thomas. In this study, data were collected using in-depth interviews with 18 experts. In the first stage, each of the experts who specialized in this issue was interviewed and after recording and analysis, the research was written. The author reported no conflict of interests in this study.

Results: The research findings indicate that each of the interviewed experts criticized Keith Thomas based on the Quranic teachings.  According to them, Keith Thomas has not been able to properly and correctly understand the exact meanings of "divine caliphate on earth", "human nobility among creatures" and "human ownership and freedom".

Conclusion: According to what is used in the doctrinal teachings of the Holy Qur'an, Keith Thomas did not gain an understanding of the relationship between Islam and the environment. There are various guidelines in the Holy Qur'an such as "responsibility", "justice", "right will and authority", "consciousness of creatures" and "unity of existence", the application of which will lead to greater protection and prosperity of the environment. Given that no writing has been observed on this issue, the study has addressed a new issue.

Aesthetic Analysis of the Mental Health Promotion Theory by Reading the Qur'anic Verses: a Case Study of the Geometric Structure of the Holy Chapter of ‘Insan’

Ali Mohammad Farhadzadeh, Mohammad Ali Majd-Faghihi

Journal of Pizhūhish dar dīn va Salāmat (i.e., Research on Religion & Health), Vol. 8 No. 2 (2022), 20 June 2022, Page 163-176
https://doi.org/10.22037/jrrh.v8i2.35441

Background and Objective: So far, no independent study has been conducted on the beauty and aesthetic aspects of the Qur'an. Considering the gap in the theoretical foundations of the experimental researchers about the recitation of and listening to the Qur'anic verses, the present study attempted to present and introduce a particular method to be used in the interdisciplinary studies and experiments with a focus on the art and beauties of the Holy Qur'an.

Methods: The present study used a combination of content analysis and interpretation methods for analyzing some of the verses of chapter ‘Insan’ of the Qur'an. This study is library-based analytical. Accordingly, the required data were collected using different sources including books and articles and after aesthetic analysis and comparison of the similar texts, the textual and content beauty and delicacy was examined. Depending on the topic being discussed, the text-to-text or inter-textual method was used for data analysis and the expression and novelty techniques and old and new discussions were also drawn on for analysis. In the present article, an attempt was made to show a small part of the structural and literal beauty of Chapter ‘Insan’ under three subcategories of ‘syntax, ‘eloquence’ and ‘geometry’. The authors reported no conflict of interests in this study.

Results: The results of analysis show that the modern experimental methods can be used for theoretical expansion of the central core of religion, i.e. the Holy Book and the Prophet’s tradition, in the framework of and using Islamic sciences to avoid the liberal and extremist approaches. By aesthetic examination of the Qur'an particularly its geometric beauties, the developmental trend of human being in different aspects including training, education, research and guidance can be understood based on the Qur'an.

Conclusion: Finally, by examining the aesthetic elements of the chapter ‘Insan’, the position of Islamic sciences in relation to art therapy was clarified.
