Abstract

Background and Objective: Despite the growing diversity of parenting methods today, there is a higher rate of improper nurturing and development of human resources in many countries. Proper upbringing should be foundational, comprehensive, and inclusive of all aspects of human personality. Identifying the factors in parenting is crucial. Since individuals are deeply connected with their environmental, cultural, and regulatory frameworks, it is necessary to pay attention to these elements in parenting. Therefore, an ethics-centered parenting model aligned with the Iranian-Islamic culture can be used to enhance parenting knowledge. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of an ethics-centered parenting education model on parental self-efficacy and the quality of the parent-child relationship.

Methods: This semi-experimental study was carried out using a pretest-posttest control group design with a one-month follow-up. The sample population consisted of 20 parents from Khadijeh Kobra School in Tehran, with children aged 9 to 11 years. The participants were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of 10 (control and experimental). Data were collected using the Parental Self-Efficacy Scale and Parent-Child Relationship Scale. The ethics-centered parenting program was implemented in 11 group sessions. Data were analyzed using mixed ANOVA. All ethical considerations were observed in this study, and the authors reported no conflicts of interest.

Results: The experimental group showed improved parental self-efficacy compared to the control group following the intervention. Additionally, the quality of parent-child relationship increased in the experimental group.

Conclusion: The proposed model can effectively support parents in enhancing their self-efficacy and improving the quality of parent-child relationship.
