تأملی در باب معنای زندگی از دیدگاه فیلسوفان

چکیده
معنای زندگی چیست؟ برخی از مردم به این خاطر جذب فلسفه میشوند که امیدوارند فلسفه بتواند پاسخی به این معمای قدیمی بدهد. اگر آنان به دنبال راه حلی ساده برای این معما باشند، به احتمال قریببهیقین ناامید خواهند شد. برخی فلاسفه معتقدند علت این که پاسخ گفتن به پرسش از معنای زندگی بسیار دشوار به نظر میرسد آن است که این پرسش اساساً غیرواقعی و دروغین است: معنا به جملات یا علامات تعلق دارد نه به چیزهایی از قبیل زندگی انسان. شاید چنان که فیلسوف بزرگ قرن بیستم، لودویگ ویتگنشتاین میگوید، حل مسألۀ معنای زندگی در پاک کردن آن است.[1]
با این وجود همۀ ما در زندگی به دنبال معنا هستیم و از احساس پوچی که میتواند همه چیز را در نظرمان کسل کننده، تکراری، یکنواخت و بیفایده سازد، وحشت داریم. اگرچه درگیر شدن با فعالیت هایی همچون داشتن یک شغل، ایجاد خانواده و ... میتواند چنین احساسات منفی را از ما دور کند، اما آیا چنین مشغولیت های شخصی کافی است یا ما به هدفی بنیادیتر برای اعتبار بخشیدن به حیاتمان نیاز داریم؟ آیا حقیقت گریزناپذیر فناپذیری بشر، دستیابی به هر معنای واقعی و پایدار را ناممکن می سازد؟
از آنجا که عمر چنین سؤالاتی به اندازۀ عمر بشر است، به نظر نمیرسد که روزی به عنوان مسائلی حل شده به کنار نهاده شوند. با این وجود میتوان با مطالعۀ روشهای متنوعی که فلاسفۀ بزرگ در مواجهه با معمای هستی انسان به کار گرفتهاند، درس های بسیاری آموخت. برخی از چهرههای مهم تاریخ فلسفه به این پرسش پاسخ گفتهاند اگر چه آنان نوعاً مسألۀ خود را با این بیان مطرح نکردهاند،اما مفاهیمی به کار میبرند که مضمونش دربارۀ سعادت واخلاق است اما دقیقاً به عنوان اهداف نهایی تفسیر شدهاند که انسان باید برای داشتن یک هستی معنادار آنها را تحقق بخشد.
