Background and Aim: Service delivery in the health sector often takes place in a tense atmosphere, which makes violent behavior among employees a common occurrence. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the experiences of students and clinical and non-clinical staff who faced violence from their colleagues in one of the educational hospitals in Tehran.

Methods: This descriptive-analytical research was conducted in a general hospital in 2018. The sample consisted of 468 students and employees working in clinical and non-clinical departments, selected using a stratified sampling method. Data were collected through a 31-question questionnaire with proven validity and reliability (α=0.8). The data was then analyzed using SPSS software.

Results: About 50% of the participants reported experiencing violence. Mental and verbal violence were the most common types of violence experienced by students and employees, respectively. The violence was often within the same group as the victim, and resulted in the silence. Students and clinical staff expressed a greater desire for support and countermeasures. Lower levels in the organizational hierarchy was associated with a significant increase in the chance of encountering violence (p<0.05). Administrative staff experienced violence significantly more frequently than hospital support and maintenance staff (p<0.05).

Conclusion: Given the high prevalence of violence, it is recommended to implement solutions such as training, developing acceptable codes of conduct, implementing tension and wellness management programs, delegating the responsibility of dealing with violence cases to committees, and using safety officers and psychologists to prevent and monitor the problem effectively.

Background and Aim: Coaches play a key role in facilitating injury prevention strategies to reduce the risk of injury in sport; however, this is likely influenced by their knowledge of, and attitude towards, injuries and injury prevention programs. There is limited research in soccer investigating coach knowledge and attitudes towards injury. Therefore, purpose of this research was to investigate Mazandaran province soccer's coach knowledge and attitudes towards sport injury prevention.

Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in which 200 soccer coaches completed a survey including a series of closed and open-ended questions regarding their knowledge and attitudes towards sport injury prevention.

Result: Coaches were less knowledgeable about common upper body injuries and associated risk factors than lower body injuries and common injury types. In particular, there was a lack of awareness that injuries to the head/face (head concussion) were common. Coaches had a positive attitude towards sport injury prevention; However, constraints of time and space are major barriers to coaches implementing sport injury prevention programs. Greater levels of knowledge and more positive attitudes were reported by coaches with more experience. Half of coaches reported witnessing coaches putting pressure on players to play when injured and most coaches reported seeing injured players play on when they thought they should not have.

Conclusion: Soccer coaches had poor knowledge about upper extremity injuries. Soccer organizations should improve coach education about common soccer-related injuries and injury risk factors, such as head injuries and effective injury prevention-based resources.

Background and Aim: Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common spinal degenerative disorders, which may cause low back pain (LBP) and subsequently lead to impaired postural motor coordination. This study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of corrective exercises on plantar pressure distribution and lumbar disc structure in women with lumbar disc herniation.

Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design, the statistical population included women (aged 45 to 55) with low back pain caused by disc herniation residing in Mashhad. A total of 30 participants were selected as the statistical sample and randomly assigned into two groups: experimental (n=15) and control (n=15). The amount of plantar pressure distribution and the height and structure of the lumbar discs L4-L5 and L5-S1 were measured using a plantar pressure scanner and an MRI, respectively, before and after an 8-week intervention. The training program consisted of 45 to 60 minutes of corrective exercise, three sessions per week for eight weeks. During this period, control group participants did not take part in any regular exercise programs. Significance level was set at P≤0.05.

Result: At the end of eight weeks of intervention, there were significant differences in pressure distribution of the right foot (P<0.001) and left(P<0.001), lumbar disc height L4-L5(P=0.02), lumbar disc height L5-S1(P=0.04), L4-L5 lumbar disc protrusion(P=0.02), and L5-S1 lumbar disc protrusion(P=0.01) between the experimental and control groups.

Conclusion: In general, the results of the present study showed that corrective exercises can improve plantar pressure, increase height, and reduce protrusion of the L4-L5 and S1-L5 lumbar discs. Therefore, people with back pain caused by disc herniation can benefit from this corrective exercise program to improve their condition.

Irtiqa Imini Pishgiri Masdumiyat (Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention), Vol. 11 No. 4 (1402), 29 Mordad 2024, Page 300- 296
https://doi.org/10.22037/iipm.v11i4.48000

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are among the most common occupational diseases, and urban taxi drivers are particularly at risk due to their specific working conditions, such as long working hours, prolonged sitting, vehicle vibrations, and non-standard seats. A study conducted on 140 taxi drivers showed that the majority are at moderate risk for these disorders, with the highest discomfort reported in the lower back and knee areas.

Despite the high prevalence, there has not been sufficient attention to this group in occupational health policymaking. Therefore, it is recommended that measures such as ergonomic training, the design and manufacture of standard seats, periodic medical examinations, the development of supportive insurance, and continuous research be prioritized by relevant organizations.

Choosing the right method for assessing musculoskeletal disorders in work environments can be useful for identifying risk factors and preventing them. Dentists are particularly at risk due to their specific working conditions such as prolonged sitting. A study conducted on 38 dental students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences with Assessment of repetitive tasks of the upper limbs ) ART( and Evaluation Del Riesgo Individual (ERIN (worksheets were showed that the risk level in the ERIN method was high, and in the ART method, on both the right and left sides of the body was medium and the level of agreement between the two methods was achieved by using the Kappa coefficient on the right side (0.25), which was medium and weak on the left side of the body (0.12).

Therefore, it is recommended that in order to evaluate discomfort in dentists, it is necessary to choose the appropriate method according to the type of activities performed, the purpose of the study, and the factors influencing the performance of tasks.
