Reviewers Guide

The editorial board of Journal of health in the field (JHF) thanks and appreciates the reviewers for accepting the reviewing of the manuscripts and spending their time to help improve the quality of the articles published in the journal.

The reviewing process in JHF is double blind, and the authors and reviewers do not know each other's identity. Manuscripts are reviewed by at least three reviewers with related fields and expertise.

Selection of reviewers, their roles and responsibilities

Reviewers of JHF are selected from researchers and academic in various health fields based on scientific and research works and experiences. Also, people who are interested in refereeing articles in JHF can send their request by completing this form to the journal's email (Jhf@sbmu.ac.ir).  Applications will be reviewed by the editorial board of the journal.

The following responsibilities are important for reviewers:

  • Have the expertise related to the topic of the manuscript and have publications in related fields.
  • Have specialized academic qualifications and have a specific organizational affiliation.
  • They do not have a conflict of interest and their organizational affiliation is not the same as the authors.

Review process

The manuscript that submitted to the JHF are first screened by the editorial board, and if approved, it is sent to three related reviewers.  Reviewer will be notified of this issue through his/her email. Reviewer will be informed and if he wants to accept the refereeing, he will be directed to the starting page of the reviewing of by selecting the link and will get access to the article files. By completing the reviewing form embedded in the site, the reviewer announces his opinions and suggestions and uploads additional reviewing files if necessary. The reviewer's final opinion includes: accept in present form, accept after minor revisions, accept after major revision, and reject.  If revisions are needed, the comments of the reviewers are given feedback to the responsible author to make corrections within a certain period of time. After corrections by the authors, it may be necessary to resend the article to the reviewers for final approval.

Review Considerations

  • Honorable referees should take into consideration the things mentioned in the conditions for refereeing, including experience and expertise related to the subject of the article, having enough time and timely refereeing, not having conflict of interest and ethical considerations.
  • Pay enough attention to the up-to-datedness, innovation, importance and scientific quality of the article.
  • The reviewer should pay attention to the general format of the article and its conformity with the structure of the journal articles and the items mentioned in the guide for authors.
  • Carefully examine all the parts of the article, including text, figures, tables, writing and scientific accuracy, and present their corrective opinions clearly.
  • In completing the revision form, clearly point out exactly what will help the authors to make the required corrections.
  • If they have recommendations to send the manuscript to other reviewers, inform the editor.
  • Declare the final opinion regarding the article in the relevant form with the reasons.
  • The reviewers should pay attention to the confidentiality of the refereeing process and be careful not to reveal their identity to the authors in the submitted documents.

     

  • The online reviewing system

    The online reviewing system for articles is designed to speed up the review process of articles by reviewers. The general steps of this process for review are as follows:

    • Registration of the reviewer as a user by the site manager.
    • Determining the article for review by the reviewer and sending an electronic message to their email and requesting the editor for reviewing.
    • Click on the title of the article in the e-mail received from the journal and enter the review section, or refer the reviewer directly to the database and log in with his/her username and password.
    • Carrying out the five stages of reviewing (by activating the expert option, a confirmation email will be sent to the journal's email, and after that, the access link to the article and the five stages will be activated for the reviewer.
    • Conducting the reviewing and completing the reviewing form on the site and giving the necessary recommendations and also uploading comments and suggestions if needed.

Acknowledgments

JHF officials appreciate the cooperation and participation of reviewers in the process of reviewing manuscripts and contributing to the development of science and knowledge. Also, in order to compensate for their efforts, a review certificate is sent by the editor to the reviewer so that they can benefit from it appropriately.
