Large language Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and models (such as DeepSeek, Gemini, and ChatGPT) do not qualify for authorship. Authorship of a paper and being listed as an author require accountability and the ability to verify the final version of the manuscript, as well as to manage its revisions, by a human. Therefore, AI should not be cited as an author in manuscripts submitted to the journal.

On the other hand, the category of "transparency" requires that if the authors of a paper have used AI language tools and models in the writing of their manuscript, they must declare complete and transparent information at the end of the manuscript (under the heading "Declaration of AI Use"), as follows:

  • Disclosure and identification of the AI tool used (including its name and the version used);
  • The purpose of use (e.g., language editing, data analysis, idea generation, reference formatting);

Responsibility of the authors of the paper:

It should be noted that the authors of the paper bear full responsibility for all content of the manuscript, including the parts that have been influenced by AI tools; this includes the following:

  • Accuracy: Verifying all facts, data, and citations generated by AI;
  • Originality: Ensuring that the work does not infringe copyright or intellectual property;
  • Integrity: Adhering to ethical publishing standards and journal policies;

It should also be noted that:

  • The use of AI to facilitate plagiarism, data fabrication, or image manipulation is prohibited.
  • The use of AI to generate data, images, or patient records constitutes fabrication and scientific misconduct and is strictly forbidden.
  • Due to the confidentiality of the peer-review process, the use of AI tools by reviewers to evaluate manuscripts is also prohibited.
