Indicators and Components of Professional Ethics of Clinical Professors of Medical Sciences Based on the Work Environment: A Synthesis Based on the Roberts Model

Abstract
Background and Aim: Professors play an important role in the process of teaching students; This is important for clinical professors of medical sciences universities, considering that their relationship is direct and at work with students and patients, it causes the institutionalization of professional ethics and character in students, therefore the professional ethics of clinical professors should be given more attention. So, the aim of this research is to identify the indicators and components of professional ethics of clinical professors of the University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: The approach of the current research is qualitative and its method is research synthesis. The research community is all articles (183 articles) that have been presented in specialized and scientific databases from 2014 to 2023 about the components of professional ethics of clinical professors of medical sciences. The sample of the research is 30 articles, which have been selected based on thematic monitoring, theoretical data saturation and purposefully. The research data were collected from the qualitative analysis of the studied documents.
Ethical Considerations: In writing the article, ethical aspects including preserving the authenticity of the texts, honesty and trustworthiness have been observed.
Results: By analyzing the data, the axes of professional ethics of clinical professors of medical sciences in 4 dimensions, 13 factors and 65 categories including individual-personality dimension (including components such as intrapersonal and extrapersonal components); then environmental-clinical components (including components such as attention to learning culture, clinical constructivism and ethics in the clinical environment); Specialized professional dimension (including components such as research-oriented and professional development, professional commitment, specialization-oriented and professional belonging) and managerial-organizational dimension (including elements such as attention to organizational values), financial and economic management and strengthening organizational initiative and creativity, were classified.
Conclusion: The results showed that the components and indicators of professional ethics of clinical professors, in addition to individual dimensions, include organizational, managerial and professional expertise dimensions and medical sciences universities in the field of clinical professor’s selection and their annual evaluation should consider these things.
