Abstract
Background and Aim: Leadership styles are one of the leading factors in creating positive changes in organizations and also moral intelligence plays a major role in this position of the organization. The present study aims to analyze the mediating role of moral intelligence in the relationship between leadership style and attitudes toward change.
Methods: The method used in this research in terms of implementation and strategy was correlational and specifically based on the structural equation model. The statistical population of this study included all managers of sports boards in Alborz province, which obtained according to the statistics announced by the General Directorate of Sports and Youth of Alborz province (N=336). According to Morgan's table, the number of statistical samples was 179 people who were randomly selected from the statistical population. For data collection, three standard questionnaires of Hersey and Blanchard leadership style (1999) and attitudes toward change for Jung (2004) and the standard questionnaire of Lennick and Kiel (2011) to assess moral intelligence was used and by statistical software (SPSS 24 and Smart PLS 2) data were analyzed.
Ethical Considerations: Before starting the work, the respondents (volunteers) were informed about the subject and method of conducting the study and oral consent was obtained and the participants were assured of confidentiality.
Results: The results showed that the variable of leadership style has an effect of 0/657 on the variable of attitude towards the change in managers of sports boards in Alborz province. Also the leadership style variable has an effect of 0/568 on the moral intelligence variable of sports managers in Alborz province. The moral intelligence variable has an effect of 0/593 on the variable of attitude towards changing the managers of sports boards in Alborz province. In this study, the VAF value for the mediating variable of moral intelligence was 0/338, which means that 33/8% of the total effects of leadership style and the attitude towards changing the managers of sports boards in Alborz province is explained through a mediating variable.
Conclusion: The results showed that moral intelligence is related to attitudes toward change and leadership style. In addition, moral intelligence increases the commitment and responsibility of managers to improve individual and group performance.
