Abstract
Background and Aim: Moral intelligence training is one of the important components of child rearing that can be effective in improving the individual and social psychological status of children; therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of teaching the components of moral intelligence on resilience and psychological cohesion of students.
Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study with a control group. The statistical population included all sixth grade male students in the second elementary school of baharestan city in the academic year 2018-19; thirty people from the target population were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the control and experimental groups. Data collection tools were included Connor and Davidson (2003) Resilience Scale and Antonovsky (1987) Psychological Cohesion Questionnaire. The intervention program of training the components of moral intelligence was performed in 8 sessions for the experimental group, but during this period no special intervention was performed for the control group, then both groups were tested. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 22 and multivariate analysis of covariance at the significance level of α=0.01.
Ethical Considerations: In compiling this research, ethical aspects including preserving the originality of the texts, honesty and fidelity and satisfaction and awareness have been respected.
Results: The results showed that after adjusting the pre-test scores, the mean scores of resilience and psychological cohesion of the experimental group increased significantly compared to the control group in the post-test (p<0.001); Therefore, it can be said that teaching the components of moral intelligence was effective in increasing resilience and psychological cohesion of students (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Based on the research findings, teaching students the components of moral intelligence can be a suitable intervention method to promote resilience and psychological cohesion.
