Abstract
Background and Aim: Today, universities need collective responsibility, evaluation ethics and moral leadership to continue their existence. Meanwhile, professional development as a mediating variable plays a constructive role in improving the knowledge and skills of faculty members to achieve these goals. Therefore, the present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of ethical leadership and professional development on the evaluation ethics and collective responsibility of academic staff members of Tabriz University.
Methods: The present research method is descriptive of the correlation type and based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the research includes all academic staff members of Tabriz University in the academic year of 2017-2018 in the number of 800 people, using proportional stratified random sampling method and according to Krejcie and Morgan's table, 260 people as the sample was selected. To collect research data from Brown & et al (2005) ethical leadership questionnaires, professional development Safari Zanjani (2019), evaluation ethics Naeini & et al (2008) and collective responsibility Logerfo & Goddard (2008) was used. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to check the validity of the questionnaires and Cronbach's alpha was used to measure the reliability of the questionnaires. The calculated coefficients were 0.91, 0.83, 0.80 and 0.81, respectively. The obtained data were analyzed using structural equation method and SPSS 24 and LISREL 8.8 software.
Ethical Considerations: The objectives of the research and the confidentiality of information were explained to the participants and their informed consent was obtained.
Results: The results of the research showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the variables of ethical leadership and collective responsibility (β=0.39), ethical leadership and professional development (β=0.56). At the same time, there is a positive and significant relationship between professional development and evaluation ethics (β=0.34) and professional development and collective responsibility (β=0.35). In addition, the mediating role of professional development was confirmed in the model. By confirming the role of professional development, ethical leadership has an indirect, positive and significant effect on evaluation ethics with a coefficient (β=0.19) and ethical leadership has an indirect, positive and significant effect on collective responsibility with a coefficient (β=0.20).
Conclusion: The results showed that any increase in the amount of ethical leadership will be accompanied by an increase in the desire for professional development of faculty members in the university and any increase in the amount of professional development will be accompanied by an increase in the amount of collective responsibility and evaluation ethics of faculty members.
