Abstract

Background and Aim: This study aims to analyze articles published in the Journal of Safety Research (JSR) from 2014 to 2023, focusing on the publication patterns according to themes and trends. Material and method: This descriptive study employed directed theme classification. A total of 1,059 articles published in JSR between 2014 and 2023 were classified based on thematic codes and counted directly. All articles referenced in this research have been cited appropriately to adhere to ethical standards. Results: The analysis identified five main themes: "Traffic and Transportation Safety," "Inspection, Analysis, and Modeling of Incidents," "Social Safety Regarding Behavior, Factors, Organizational, and Cultural Aspects," "Safety at Home, School, and Other Public Places," and "Inspection, Monitoring, and Performance Evaluation." These themes collectively explain approximately 58% of the variance in published articles.  Notable emphasis was placed on "Traffic and Transportation Safety" and "Inspection, Analysis, and Modeling of Incidents," highlighting their critical roles in enhancing safety performance. Conclusion: The predominant focus of the articles published in JSR reflects the significance of investigating and learning from accidents as a reactive approach, alongside the crucial role of risk management, human factors, and behavioral aspects in safety interventions as preventive strategies. Specifically, topics related to accident analysis, human behavior, and errors have been particularly emphasized for their key influence on safety performance.
