To support the fast sharing of scientific knowledge, AAB encourages authors to deposit their work in preprint servers and institutional repositories. This section explains how you can share different versions of your work.
Manuscript Versions Defined
Preprint: The original version of your work before it has been peer-reviewed.
Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM): The version that has been accepted after peer review, including any necessary changes, but before the publisher’s final formatting.
Version of Record (VoR): The final, formatted version available on the AAB website.
Preprint Policy
You may upload your work to recognized preprint servers (such as arXiv or bioRxiv) before or at the same time as submitting to AAB. This will not affect your submission status.
When submitting to AAB, please disclose if a preprint version exists and provide a link.
Once your article is published, you must update your preprint page with a link to the final Version of Record and its DOI.
Institutional and Subject Repositories Policy
Accepted Manuscript (AAM): You can deposit your AAM in an institutional repository as soon as the Version of Record is published. There is no waiting period (embargo).
Version of Record (VoR): You may deposit the final version in an institutional repository immediately. You must use the CC BY-NC 4.0 license and provide a complete citation and a link to the article on the AAB website.
