Publication and Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must state that informed consent was obtained from all human adult participants and from the parents or legal guardians of minors.
  • The name of the appropriate institutional review board that approved the project should be stated
  • Indicate in the text that the maintenance and care of experimental animals comply with National Institutes of Health guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals, or those of your Institute or agency.
  • Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest, such as receiving funds or fees by, or holding stocks and shares in, an organization that may profit or lose through the publication of your paper. Declaring a competing interest will not lead to the automatic rejection of the paper, but we would like to be made aware of it.
  • Manuscripts must be devoid of any forms of plagiarism. They should also have appropriate citations to the related literature in the field, etc. compatible with COPE.
  • This Journal is for your personal noncommercial use (Based on Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs CC BY-NC-ND, Link). You may not modify copy, distribute, transmit, display, or publish any materials contained in the Journal without the prior written permission of it or the appropriate copyright owner.
  • The authors certify that neither this manuscript nor one with substantially similar content under their authorship has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere in any language, except as described in the cover letter. They also certify that any previous presentations of this paper in meetings are mentioned in the cover letter.
  • All authors should read the Authors’ Agreement Form carefully and submit a completed and signed copy of it along with their manuscript.
  • Authors should not submit redundant or multiple publications

Peer review/responsibility for the reviewers

Submitted articles are primarily evaluated by our statisticians who check the articles for any methodological flaws, format, and compliance with the Journal’s instructions. Through a single-blind review, the articles will be reviewed by at least two external (peer) reviewers. Their comments will be given to the authors and their responses to the comments along with the reviewers’ comments will then be evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and a final reviewer who can be a member of the Editorial Board. The final review process will be discussed in regular editorial board sessions and on the basis of the comments, and the Journal’s standards, the Editor-in-Chief will decide which articles should be published. Reviewers have the following responsibilities:

  • Review comments should be objective and constructive.
  • Reviewers should have no conflict of interest.
  • Reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited.
  • Reviewed articles should be treated confidentially.
  • Reviewers should have an advising role, and the final decision on an article is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Reviewers should provide constructive comments to improve the quality of the article.

Editorial responsibilities

  • The Editor-in-Chief has complete authority to reject/accept an article.
  • The Editor should have no conflict of interest.
  • When errors are found in a manuscript, the Editor facilitates publication of corrections or retractions

Issues on Publishing Ethics

The Journal of Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention (JSPIP) complies with the international regulations against scientific misconduct (fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism, etc.). Any suspected act of misconduct in the submitted materials to the journal will be meticulously assessed and the needful action will be taken based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The Editor-in-Chief is always willing to publish corrections.

The JSPIP asks authors to be careful about using others’ words, ideas, and materials and fully cite any sources of the contents of their submitted papers if they are not original. Text extracted from other sources should be supported by reference citations, in quotation marks, or be appropriately paraphrased.

Data falsification/fabrication: Falsification is the practice of omitting or altering research materials, data, or processes so that the results of the research are no longer accurately reflected. Fabrication is the practice of inventing data or results and reporting them in the research. Both of these misconducts are fraudulent and seriously alter the integrity of research. Therefore, articles must be written based on original data and use of falsified or fabricated data is strongly prohibited.

Image manipulation: The JSPIP encourages authors to send their original images. All digital images in manuscripts accepted for publication will be checked for inappropriate manipulation. No specific feature within an image may be enhanced, obscured, moved, removed, or introduced. Adjustments of brightness, contrast, or color balance are acceptable as long as they are applied to the entire image and do not misrepresent any information present in the original, including the background. The editor will request the original data from the authors to compare the manipulated figures in cases suspected of inappropriate manipulation.

Plagiarism: Submission of a paper implies that it reports unpublished work and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. If previously published tables, illustrations, or text are to be included, then this should be clearly indicated in the manuscript and the copyright holder's permission must be obtained. Previously published material can be cited in a later review or commentary article, but it must be indicated using quotation marks if necessary.
Plagiarism of text from a previously published manuscript by the same or another author is a serious publication offense. Small amounts of text may be used, but only where the source of the material quoted is clearly acknowledged. Fraudulent data or data stolen from other authors is also unethical and will be treated accordingly. Any alleged offense is considered initially by the Editorial Team.

Copyright: The Iranian Society of Pediatric Nephrology is the copyright owner of the material published in the JSPIP. However, all published works are open-access and are immediately available without cost to anyone on the journal’s website. The users are free to use of the work, subject to proper attribution of authorship and ownership of the rights. Authors may use their material in presentations and subsequent publications they write or edit themselves, provided that the JSPIP is notified in writing and is acknowledged as the original publication.

Retraction

Based on the COPE guidelines, JSPIP will consider retracting a publication if:

  • It has clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation or experimental error).
  • The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification (i.e. cases of redundant publication)
  • It constitutes plagiarism.
  • It reports unethical research.
