This special issue intends to explore the potential of microbial oil production as a sustainable solution for edible oil production, emphasizing recent advancements, challenges, and future prospects in this emerging field.

Scope: Areas of interest comprise, but are not restricted to:

- Implementation of fermentation processes for lipid accumulation.

- Choosing appropriate feedstock’s for microbial oil production.

- Enhancing lipid yield and quality through culture conditions optimization.

- Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of microbial oil production.

- Exploration of economic and commercial aspects of microbial oil production for edible oil applications.
