Abstract
اصل اثر دوگانه، که پیشینه تاریخی آن به زمان آکوئیناس برمیگردد، یکی از اصول اساسی در فلسفه اخلاق است که در اخلاق کاربردی مورد توجه جدی قرار گرفته است. این اصل، راه و روشی برای حل مشاجرات اخلاقی است که در آنها یک عمل دو اثر ـ یا بیشتر ـ دارد که یکی از آنها خوب و دیگری بد است. بر اساس این اصل، فاعل اخلاقی هیچ گاه مجاز نیست عامدانه عمل بدی را برای رسیدن به نتایج خوب انجام دهد، اما گاهی ـ مشروط به شرایطی ـ مجاز است که عمل خوبی را انجام دهد، علیرغم اینکه میداند این عمل نتایج بدی را نیز به صورت ناخواسته به دنبال خواهد داشت. در تاریخ فلسفه اخلاق صورتبندیهای مختلفی از این اصل ارائه گردیده و استدلالهای گوناگونی برای آن اقامه شده و نیز اشکالات فراوانی بر آن وارد شده است. کاربردهای این اصل را میتوان در اخلاق پزشکی، اخلاق صلح و جنگ و بسیاری دیگر از مسائل اخلاق کاربردی مشاهده نمود. در این مقاله پس از تعریف و ارائه شرایط اِعمال این اصل، دلایل موافقان و مخالفان آن، طرح و مورد نقد و بررسی قرار گرفته است.
