Abstract
Background and Aim: Anencephaly or anencephaly is a congenital problem caused by a defect in the neural canal that occurs when the baby's brain, skull, and scalp do not grow in the mother's womb. Babies born with such defects die within hours or days; Due to their complications, these babies can be considered good donors by nature, and many patients' lives can be saved from their organs, and this study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the biological and ethical bases of anencephalic organ donation.
Method: In this study, after a targeted search and review of sources, the ethical components of organ donation for anencephalic patients have been explained analytically.
Ethical Considerations: The norms related to ethics in research and trustworthiness in citing the texts and references of the article have been fully observed.
Results: Ethical analysis of organ donation of anencephalic patients can take an effective and useful step in response to the permissibility or non-permissibility of organ donation of these patients, because by measuring the four principles of autonomy, justice, utilitarianism and non-Naziness, permission for organ donation of anencephalic patients is not taken and only based on the principle Utilitarianism If from the perspective of the principle of consequentialist ethics, we mean the type of universalism of consequentialist ethics, then we can tolerantly comment on the permission to donate non-head organs of these patients with conditions such as knowing that they will not be wasted, obtaining consent from their parents and the necessity of saving the lives of needy children.
Conclusion: The comparison and application of the four principles of practical ethics in organ donation for anencephalic patients shows its importance and benefit in the current era, which should be taken into consideration despite being new.
