Editorial Independence Policy
1- Statement of Editorial Independence
The Regeneration, Reconstruction & Restoration (Triple R) Journal is financially and administratively supported by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU). However, the journal maintains strict and complete editorial independence in full alignment with the principles established by the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The sponsoring institution and affiliated academic bodies have no authority to intervene in, influence, or dictate the editorial evaluation, peer-review process, or final publication decisions of any submitted manuscript.
2- Editorial Authority and Decision-Making
-Final Authority: The “Editor-in-Chief (EiC)” has full, uncompromised authority and final responsibility for all editorial decisions, including the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts.
-Merit-Based Assessment: Manuscript selection and evaluation are based solely on scientific merit, methodological validity, originality, clarity, significance, and alignment with the journal's aims and scope.
-Firewall from Non-Academic Influences: Commercial, institutional, financial, political, or personal relationships have no bearing on editorial decisions.
3- Selection and Appointment of Editors and Editorial Board
Members of the Editorial Board and Section Editors are appointed based on rigorous academic criteria, including:
-Proven expertise and scholarly reputation in their respective dental disciplines.
-Sustained research output, verifiable bibliometric indicators (e.g., h-index, citation record), and prior peer-review experience.
-Commitment to diversity, equity, and global scientific representation across regional and international academic institutions.
4- Impartiality, Non-Discrimination, and Confidentiality
-Unbiased Evaluation: Editors evaluate manuscripts objectively and fairly without regard to the race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, institutional affiliation, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
-Confidentiality: All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Editors and editorial staff are strictly prohibited from sharing unpublished data, methods, or findings with third parties.
-Prohibition of Exploitation: Privileged information, data, or concepts obtained through peer review must never be used for personal, academic, or competitive advantage.
5- Managing Editorial Conflicts of Interest (COI)
To uphold transparency and integrity:
-Editors and Editorial Board members must disclose all potential financial, professional, or personal competing interests upon appointment and update them annually.
-An editor or reviewer with a direct conflict of interest regarding a submission (e.g., co-authorship, recent institutional collaboration, direct competition, or family relationship) must recuse themselves immediately from managing, reviewing, or deciding on that manuscript.
-In such cases, an independent Associate Editor or guest editor is assigned to oversee the review and decision-making process.
6- Continuous Quality Assurance and Accountability
-The Editorial Board regularly evaluates its peer-review workflows, acceptance criteria, and decision-making timelines to ensure rigorous, fair, and timely evaluation.
-The journal actively welcomes constructive feedback, scholarly discourse, and ethical inquiries from authors, reviewers, and readers to maintain transparent, accountable, and progressive publishing practices.
