As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission of this article represents original, unpublished material that is not under editorial consideration elsewhere, in whole or in part (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format (do not use compressed file formats like zip or rar).
  • If no conflict exists, authors should state "The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest" in a separate section before the reference list.

The authors are kindly asked to follow the Author Guidelines. If guidelines have not been followed, the paper may be returned with a request for changes. The editorial review process will not start unless the paper has been revised to meet the author guidelines. The JMLIS publishes original/research articles, review articles, letters to the editor, commentary, and case reports. Other types of articles are also accepted.

Open Access Policy

Journal of Medical Library and Information Science update its standard licensing policy to
promote broader dissemination and reusability of published research. Effective 1 Aug 2025, all articles newly published in our journal will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) License.

This change from our previous CC BY-NC-ND license means that while commercial use of the content remains restricted, the removal of the "NoDerivatives" (ND) clause now permits greater flexibility. Users are free to adapt, remix, translate, and build upon the published material, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and our journal. This updated policy aims to enhance the impact and discoverability of research by allowing for more dynamic engagement with the content, fostering collaboration, and supporting innovative uses like text and data mining. Authors retain copyright of their work under these terms.
