The first issue of the “Journal of Dental School (JDS)” was published back in 1967 by enormous efforts of Professor Ali Akbar Bahraman, Dean of the School at the time, aiming to spread the knowledge and findings of National dental scholars to the world. Following the Islamic Revolution in 1979, publication of this journal experienced a few years of halt but restarted in March 1984. Journal of Dental School was re-established and soon became the leading dental journal, nationwide, with more focus on national research findings. In 2012, a major change in JDS policy took place; publishing language from Persian to English. This was in line with high demands for wider audience cover.

JDS has been published quarterly since its 1st issue, with steps taken towards excellence through publishing purely original works of the fellow researchers. ”JDS is an open access, peer-reviewed journal with a history of indexing in various scientific and international web indexing systems for many years including: Index Copernicus, Google Scholar, CINAHL, EMRO, SID, ISC and Barakatkns (Iran Medex). Some of the above listed indexing systems, however, have changed their indexing policies and therefore the journal’s title may have been disappeared from their list while others have agreed to review the new version and renew accordingly.

This journal aims to spread the knowledge of dental sciences in the national and international level and provides scholars with the most recent findings and advances in the dental field. This journal publishes original articles, case reports, case series and systematic reviews in the field of dentistry and related topics. ”JDS” is published online with the following URL and submissions are requested to be made directly online, at: www.journals.sbmu.ac.ir/dentistry
