One of the terms used, is “Masam” (pores usually in the skin surface or in the organs) which plays an important role in the appearance of some symptoms and diseases, and is used in the management of many disorders. In this article, we reviewed existing Persian medicine literatures, articles and textbooks, searching what have been said about Masams. “Masam” is one of the natural openings which exist in the skin surface and in also other body organs such as eyelid, placenta, uterus, synovial membrane, muscle and lung vessels.
