develop it. Cause of high quality care providing importance in the ICU, it is necessary to familiarize nurses with the evidence in care. Awareness of nurse’s attitude allows changing and improving their approach. This study aimed to determine attitudes of nurses working in educational medical science hospitals ICUs in Ardabil city.

Materials and methods:

In this descriptive study, 234 ICU nurses have selected with census method. To measure the attitude, questionnaire form that its validity was determined by content validity and its reliability was determined by using Cronbach’s alpha(α = 0. 78) have used. Data

analysis was performed with the software spss18.

Results: Most nurseshad positive attitudes toevidence-basedcaresandevidencevalidityand its

useinclinicalcareandnegativeattitudestotheimportanceofcilinicalexperience. There is a significant

relation between level of education, clinical experience, training and management, survey quantity, access to result of research, with mean of attitude score.

Conclusions:

Despite positive attitudes to evidence-based practice and its clinical use, access to research evidence and use is low.

Abstract

Background and aim:

Nausea and vomiting is among the most common complications in patients recovering from general anaesthesia , 30-70 of patients experience nausea and vomiting after surgery. Although variety of medications have been used to control this complication, it still remains as a problem. Armothpy a non pharmacologic intervention is suggested for treatment of many conditions and Pepprmint may be effectivein treatment of common digestive conditions.

This aim of this study was to examine the efficacy of inhaling peppermint essence for prevention

of nausea and vomiting after abdominal surgery in patients admitted in Beasssat and Tohid hospitals in Sanandaj in 2011.

Method and materials:

A randomized clinical trial was conducted to examine the efficacy of

Peppermint essence inhalation for prevention of post- surgical nausea and vomiting. The sample of the study consisted of 90 patients, which were randomly allocated to receive peppermint inhalation or saline normal. A 2 × 2 gauze pad saturated with two drops of pure pharmacy-grade peppermint essence was used for 1 minute in intervention group. For patients in control group a 2 × 2 gauze pad saturated with 0. 9% normal saline was used. A visual analog scale was used to rate nausea. Patients were followed in recovery and surgical ward for occurrence of nausea and vomiting. Data were analyzed by SPSS software, version 17.

Findings:

There was not statistical difference between two groups in terms of confounding variables such as body mass index, length of anesthesia as well as type of anesthesia. 6. 7% of patients in peppermint group and 0% of patients in control group experienced mild nausea. Manwitney

statistical test, showed no significant difference between the two groups in terms of nausea in recovery room. The results indicated there was significant difference between the two groups in the

1392 ناتسمز ،83 هرامش ،23 هرود / 34

severity of nausea in surgical ward. There was not a significant difference between two groups in

term of numbers of vomiting.

Conclusion:

The findings of the study showed no diferrence between peppermint and saline in

terms of prevetion of nausea and vomiting.

One reason can either be ineffective breathing patterns of patients after anesthesia or insufficient

dose of peppermint which has affected the results of this study. It seems more studies with various shapes and amounts of peppermint are required in this regard.

Advances in Nursing & Midwifery, Vol. 23 No. 83 (2014), 28 January 2014, Page 35-42

Abstract

Background and aim:

Type II diabetes, can be controlled by medical treatment and self care behaviors, however the patients often fail to comply with self care behaviors. Concerning the role of family in supporting patients’ self care behaviors, the aim of this study is to determine the effect of a family –centered education of self care behaviors based on family- centered empowerment model on patients with type II diabetes.

Methods and materials:

The quasi-experimental design carried out on 40 patients with type II diabetes

who were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. The education of self care behaviors in four domains (nutrition, physical activity and exercise, medications, complications and foot care) for intervention group and their families was performed. Data were collected by a valid and reliable questionnaire. The scores of self care behaviors before and after the education were measured. Data were analyzed by the SPSS16 software.

Findings:

Prior to education, there was no significant difference between self-care behaviors scores in both intervention and control groups (p>0/05). After education, self-care behaviors of the intervention group in total scores and also in all domains were increased and statistically were

significant (p <0/05), while there was no significant change in the control group.

Conclusion:

The findings showed that this education method improved self -care behaviors among

patients with type II diabetes. These results can be used in the other chronic diseases and different levels of nursing care.

Abstract

Background and aim.

Today, medical and nursing education is moving from traditional into student-centered educational system. In this context, teaching and learning via computers and internet has been increasing in popularity. This study was aimed to determine the knowledge, skills, access and usage of computers, internet and databases in nursing students and some of the related factors.

Materials and Methods :

This is a descriptive and correlation study. 145 undergraduate students were randomly selected from the nursing midwifery school. Data were collected by “status of computer and internet usage” questionnaire. Content validity and test-retest method were used for its validity and reliability respectively. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 20 and analytical - descriptive statistics.

Results:

Nursing students expressed their knowledge and skills of computers and internet usage in the good level. Also, their access to computers and internet were “high” (44. 8%) and “moderate” (47. 6 %) respectively. The most important factors of facilitating and inhibiting usage of computers and internet were “Easy using of computer” and “Slow speed of internet” respectively. The knowledge and skills of computers and internet usage was correlated with their usage.

Conclusions:

The results of this study highlights needs of computers and internet learning for nurses. This should be consider by health planners and policy makers.

Abstract

AbstIntroduction:

The reproductive system infections are most common womens reasons for repetitive refers to gynecological clinic and the second problem is vulvovaginal candidiasis. since, distribution of patients and clinical signs may cause the wrong diagnose and treatment , in this study clinical signs and examination microscopy and vaginal discharge were compared.

Method:

In this descriptive study that has done among 18-44 married women years with complain from vaginal itching or irritation (july-may 2011). After diagnose the vaginite associate of patients complains and rigest the clinical signs, three sampling were done from every women. Two of them for wet mount with saline /KOH 10% and the other sample for sending to lab to culture purpose(golden standard test). data analysis was performed by spss 17 soft ware.

Result:

Among the factors that evaluate the most sensitivity belong to vulval erythema (89/1%) and the less sensitivity belong to cottage discharge(74/3%) and in the microscopic examination, the most specificity(100%) and the less specificity belong to themselves in vaginal candidiases

diagnose between studied factors.

Conclusion:

Using the lab method (culture) and microscopic study on vaginite diagnose.
